For months I have been searching for a winch bumper for my 1994 Defender 90. Not just any bumper mind you, but the Land Rover genuine winch bumper that was offered as an option only in 1994. All other years were different and will not do. If you actually care, the difference is the '94 bumper had cut outs for the turn signals. I am sure I could have taken another year and made the proper holes, but because I am a douche I wanted it factory correct and not homemade. Now my search was futile until about a month ago. That is where my rage comes in.
I was searching for defender parts on the internet when I came across a super low mileage Defender for a decent price that I knew a certain high end reseller would be all over. I called said dealership to let them in on my find and of course they were interested in it, so interested that they bought it that day for $29,500. While I was talking to the guy from the dealership who handles Defenders I mentioned the bumper I was looking for. Turns out they had a rusty one that they had just put in the trash. Rust isn't an issue as I would have it powder coated so I asked them to grab it before it went to a landfill in beautiful Massachusetts (hint on dealer). They pulled it out of the trash for me and said they would figure out a way for me to get it. To me it was a win win. They got a truck to resell and I got my bumper (one man's trash...)
Anyway a month has gone by and the dealership has kind of been ignoring my emails on the bumper. Did I mention that in this time they resold the truck I gave them a lead on for $44k? This is the response I got to my latest inquiry on the bumper:
YOUR bumper is still in the same place it was a month ago. =) O have nothing to put it in to ship it. I have no boxes, I don't want to make one and ups/usps/fedex will not take it as. I am just too busy to think about how the heck to get it to you. Have someone local come get it and ship it to you. I don't really have any other ideas until something falls into my lap.
Maybe I am asking too much, but you would think that considering I made them $15k they could find the time to box up the bumper for me. The worst part is I was willing to pay the shipping or maybe the worst part is I am douche who doesn't even want to put the bumper on my truck. I just want to have it in my collection of rare, random, and worthless shit. So much for thinking the favor of making cash would be repaid in kind.
